Hello! ^^} ,,U̠- -U̠,,-! 안녕하세요! coi! Jadı!

.ui coi ! .i mi se cmene la travu'e . and in English my name is Alice.

I'm a native English speaker and I'm conversational in ASL (though definitely not fluent). I know a little bit of Korean, a little bit of Lojban, and almost no Toaq. I'm still not sure which of those last 3 I want to actually stick with or not as well.

I'm a junior speech pathology major and religious studies minor in college and long time conlanger. My current language interests are very much focused on sign languages (including grammar and potential orthographies like Si5s, Sutton, and ELiS), loglangs, and the odd interesting natconlang (of which I only have 2, one spoken and one signed). I'm also a worldbuilder and an artist, I play viola, I garden, and I cook a lot.

I don't really have any super interesting facts about myself. I guess maybe being hard of hearing is interesting? It's what spurred my love of SLs on at least. I've done interesting things before but I don't think those count. Anyways, happy to be here!

Shadı! Nice to see new people here. Some questions (if you'd like to answer them):

  • Is "^^} ,,U̠- -U̠,,-" in ASL? If so, what writing system is it?
  • What is a natconlang? Originally I thought it referred to conlangs created through naturalistic means like Viossa, but now I find it more likely that it means "naturalistic conlang". But I'm still not sure.

Thank you! I love the questions too /gen

  • Yeah, that's my attempt at transliterating "HELLO!" on a computer. It's (sorta) ASLwrite (the successor to Si5s), and shows smiling while shaking both hands in vertical neutral space (so basically waving with both hands).
  • I use "natconlang" for "naturalistic seeming conlang," so yeah kind of the typical worldbuilding-ish conlangs.
